Make Your Space New

Our spaces require a refresh from time to time.  A new environment improves our emotions, productivity, and general comfort, whether the space’s purpose needs to change or only its style.

Ask yourself these two questions before you begin your refresh.

  • What distinct uses do I want my place to have?
  • How should my room feel to me?

You must take into account the budget after responding to those two questions.  There are refreshes that don’t always imply big financial gains.  Think about reusing products you already own and simply getting rid of items you no longer need to stretch your budget.  It’s pretty amazing how much new energy can be created by getting rid of things and adding an “old chair” to a different area.

Keep the responses to the first two questions in mind as you proceed through these easy steps to begin the transition.

Step 1: Eliminate, Hold, and Consider

  • Give your local charity any stuff you no longer need, and dispose of all trash.
  • Move out anything you need and want from your newly renovated space so you may clean and rethink it.
  • There are always a few things about which it is impossible to quickly decide whether they should remain or not.  Set these things aside for further consideration.

Step 2: Clean your Space

No matter how organized your area is, you still need to vacuum, dust, and clean the baseboards after everything has been removed.

Step 3: Take on any significant tasks

such as painting, wallpapering, or making new furniture, in step three.  When selecting a hue for a place, be sure to keep in mind the vibe you want to create.

Step 4: Reassemble it

For goodness sake, make sure everything you bring into the area is clean before bringing in the larger components, followed by the smaller ones.

  • Don’t just put things back in the same spot where they came from when returning to space.
  • Consider bringing a piece from another room into this one as part of the refresh.
  • Return to your “consider” pile at this point as well.  Bring the objects back into the new area to see whether they fit or if it’s time to get rid of them.
  • Make sure you personalize and make yourself comfortable in the room above all else.

Whether your home has been completely renovated, just refurbished, or is as-is, it is still your home, and you should have a clean home.
